The powerful portables: Yamaha unveils unique portable engines at Genoa boat show, on October 3, 2009
Yamaha announces the launch of the F4, F5 and F6 engines – a range of portable, lightweight outboards designed specifically with the European customer in mind. While the F4 and F6 improve existing models, the F5 is brand new for 2010 and offers even more choice to small-boat owners.
The F4, F5 and F6 all feature a stylish, new-for-2010 design with a two-tone colour scheme and unique shape. The combination of a lightweight construction and the clever design of the engines’ top-cowling and carrying handles means that they are comfortable to carry and easily removed when the boat isn’t in use. Yamaha’s unique 3-position oil leak-free storage system allows the engines to be easily stored – without the risk of oil leaking into a boat, car or trailer during transportation.
Quiet, low-vibration operation makes the engines comfortable to use in the confines of a small boat. Handy steering friction adjustment provides relaxed and confident control. Since every square centimetre counts on a small boat, a 1.2l built-in fuel tank eliminates the need for a separate tank on shorter rides.
All are based around Yamaha’s world-leading four-stroke technology, which ensures smooth, efficient power. The unique, blow-by gas re-burning system results in lower emissions and better fuel-consumption.
Yamaha outboard’s reputation for turnkey reliability is unrivalled. An auxiliary priming pump and maintenance-free CDI Ignition System ensures easy starting in all conditions, while a number of technologies protect the engine against accidental damage. Start-in-gear protection locks the starter to prevent damage that occurs from starting the engine in-gear. The over-rev limiter and neutral rev-limiter prevent the engine from excessive wear at high revs.
Every Yamaha engine features Yamaha’s Ideal Anti-corrosion Protection, which consists of corrosion resistant alloy components and a 5-stage exterior coating of tough primers, undercoats and acrylic resins, sealed in a final coat of clear urethane lacquer.
Whether you use your boat on the sea or freshwater, you’re guaranteed years of enjoyment from your Yamaha engine.
